铜鼎的四壁、底部及内壁铭刻古今书家不同书体的寿字1万个,包括满、蒙、白、藏、苗、彝、壮、维吾尔、朝鲜等少数民族的寿字书法,寓意中华民族万寿无疆,万民永寿,万方同寿。其中,正面大寿字为毛泽东的草书;内壁有一直径为2米的鎏金大寿字。鼎内置一尊1.8米高的鎏金寿星,内壁镌《中华万寿大鼎铸建记》,载大鼎建设的缘起及过程。中华万寿大型铜鼎是中国有史以来高、重、大的祭祀铜鼎。
